Aussies spending less on food but wasting more of it

Perth 6000 The 1970s might not be renowned as a great culinary era in Australia, but it was a time when we excelled at not wasting food in the kitchen.Without returning to fondue and food suspended in moulds of jelly, Ros Sambell, a lecturer in public health nutrition at Edith Cowan University, said there was something to be learned from the post-war attitude to food."Food made up about one third of household budgets in the 1970s, compared with about 17 per cent today," Ms Sambell said....
